Residential Living Wall in Carmel Valley

A residential client in San Diego was faced with a large, uninviting wall directly adjacent to the front door. Rather than simply installing a single, standard living wall, the client desired a creative, artistic approach that would draw attention and elevate the entrance.

To address these challenges, we designed three separate living walls, each measuring 36 inches wide by 80 inches tall. This multi-panel approach offered a striking way to fill the wall’s expanse without resorting to a bulky rectangular installation. Custom fabricated frames provided a sleek, modern finish that aligns with the property’s architectural style. We selected a resilient mix of plants able to thrive in shifting light conditions, ensuring the living walls remain lush over time. To visually unite the three panels, we created a wave-like progression that flows seamlessly across all pieces, achieving a cohesive yet dynamic design.

The Outcome

The trio of living walls now transforms the once-bare entryway into a captivating focal point that welcomes residents and guests alike. Splitting the installation into three vertical panels maximized both visual coverage and project affordability. The flowing wave design provides movement and interest, while the hardy plant selection ensures the installation remains both beautiful and easy to maintain. The result is a living art statement that enhances the property’s curb appeal and sets a warm, inviting tone from the moment anyone steps through the door.
