Large Custom Moss Wall
Newport Beach, Lincoln Property Group
Client need
We were contacted by a long-time collaborator, Details Custom Builders Inc., with an urgent request: create a moss wall installation for a newly constructed office space in Newport Beach for their client, Lincoln Property Group. The moss walls were a late-stage addition to the project, and with construction nearing completion, time was limited. The client needed a biophilic feature that could be fabricated and installed within a week and a half—on a tight budget and with minimal disruption to the final stages of construction. Design preferences were left open-ended, but the wall needed to be visually engaging and seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure, including a thermostat and nine pre-installed wall hangers.
Our solution
With the creative flexibility granted by the client, we developed a custom design spanning multiple walls, totaling 158 square feet. Our approach focused on natural movement and texture, crafting a visual experience that felt dynamic yet cohesive. A deep green vein motif gently undulates across the panels, giving a sense of flow and grounding the composition. Surrounding this feature, we blended a variety of green moss tones that transition cleanly from light to dark, adding layers of visual interest and depth. The design was meticulously adapted to navigate around wall-mounted obstacles and architectural features, ensuring a clean, intentional finish that worked within the constraints of the space.
The Outcome
The final installation brought a sophisticated, biophilic touch to Lincoln Property Group’s modern office environment. The moss walls span multiple planes of the space, offering employees and visitors moments of calm and visual intrigue throughout the suite. Despite the accelerated timeline, the piece was fabricated and installed with precision, meeting both the deadline and budget. The natural textures and tonal gradients soften the hard lines of the office interior, fostering a more welcoming and grounded atmosphere. The project stands as a testament to the impact of thoughtful, nature-inspired design—even when time is short and parameters are tight.
